Following his school days, Lars joined the military services, where he did his basic military service of nine months in the Kongelige Livgarde (Royal Guards) An infantry regiment in the Danish army. He was not convinced that the military service was right for him and he started to look for something different and eventually chose to study biology. As he was busy with this half-year course, Anette came home from a juggler class and showed her how well she could juggle after three days. Lars was thrilled and wanted to test it. He decided to drop out of college and went to the juggler school as well. He learned fire breathing as well as juggling at this school. He then traveled along with two of his fellow students throughout Europe as a touring artist, performing in cities like Paris, Munich and Moscow. He was introduced to a circus for children in the next year and learned children's and street theatre as well as pantomime.
